Eternal Gift Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to building a compassionate, accessible and sustainable ecosystem for patients and families affected by organ failure. Our approach is rooted in four simple principles — Care. Connect. Cultivate. Commit. We care for patients and families, connect them with the people and support they need, cultivate awareness and understanding around organ donation, and commit to being part of their journey through every stage of transplantation.

We believe that organ transplantation is not simply a surgery—it is a journey that begins long before the transplant and continues throughout a patient's life. Our aim is to support this entire continuum of care, from awareness, diagnosis, evaluation and pre-transplant management to transplantation, rehabilitation and long-term post-transplant follow-up.

At the heart of Eternal Gift Foundation is the vision of bringing patients, families, healthcare professionals, transplant centres, donors, institutions and communities together. We work to help patients navigate the complexities of organ failure and transplantation while creating stronger connections to the information, guidance, resources and support they need.

Beyond patient support, we are committed to creating greater awareness and education around organ donation. Through community engagement, educational initiatives and meaningful conversations, we aim to address myths and misconceptions, encourage informed and ethical organ donation, and build a society that better understands the life-changing impact of giving.

We also recognise that a strong transplant ecosystem requires more than medical infrastructure. It requires trained healthcare professionals, transplant coordinators, social workers, volunteers, institutions and communities working together with compassion and purpose. The Foundation therefore seeks to contribute to education, training, capacity building, patient navigation and collaboration across the transplantation ecosystem.

Our purpose is simple yet far-reaching: to ensure that no patient facing organ failure has to navigate the journey alone. By creating awareness, strengthening patient support and bringing the transplant community together, Eternal Gift Foundation strives to build an ecosystem where every patient has a fair opportunity to receive the care, support and hope they deserve.

The foundation was established in 2026 by Dr. Satya Prakash Ray Choudhury with Dr. Shakti Swaroop and Matru Prasad Mishra, and held its first public event, Sankalp, in September 2026.

The Official Framework

Who governs organ donation in India

Organ donation and transplantation in India operate within a regulated national framework. Two bodies matter most to any donor or patient.

NOTTO

National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation

NOTTO is the national-level body under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It coordinates organ procurement and distribution across the country, maintains the national registry of donors and recipients, sets networking and allocation policy, and runs the official donor pledge registry.

SOTTO

State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation

SOTTO is the state-level counterpart of NOTTO. Each state has its own SOTTO, which coordinates donation and transplantation within the state, registers hospitals and transplant centres, maintains the state waiting list, and works with NOTTO when organs are shared across states. Members of SOTTO Odisha attended Sankalp, our launch programme.
